Lodge of Concord No. 4910
Lodge of Concord 4910 was consecrated on 2nd June 1927.
It was founded by a number of local Southampton Freemasons who were concerned that due to the size of Lodges in the area, it was difficult for newer members to progress through the various offices, typically taking 12-25 years to become Worshipful Master. Their founding ethos was to give newer members the opportunity of becoming more involved in the Lodge, something we continue to promote today.
The Lodge was sponsored by Shirley Lodge No. 1112 and has always met in the Masonic Hall, Albion Place, Southampton which is known locally as 40 steps, due to its proximity to the City old walls and the 40 steps that lead down, now, to a restaurant and bar area but at one point, gave access to the beach and waterfront.
The Masonic Hall was consecrated for Masonic use in 1879. As a point of reference, that is the same year as The Battle of Rorke’s Drift in the Anglo-Zulu War and also the year that Thomas Edison demonstrated Incandescent lighting for the first time in public. It has been in constant use ever since and was one of the few buildings in Southampton that escaped damage through the Southampton Blitz of 1940.
Today, Lodge of Concord 4910 remains small and friendly, allowing it to continue with the Founding Member’s philosophy of allowing newer members to progress through the Offices more quickly than in many other Lodges, should they so wish. We have a diverse membership in every sense of the word, our members are from all sectors of the workforce, from the self-employed, the Emergency Services as well as private business owners and from the field of education. We have members from all over the UK and beyond, from Europe to Africa and the USA. We are proud to support both Masonic and local, non-Masonic charities. Whatever your background or professional standing, you will find a friendly home at Lodge of Concord and we would love to get to know you.

As a Lodge we try and support both Masonic and non-Masonic charities. As a Province we are currently in Festival and as such our Lodge is focusing on supporting the Masonic Charitable Foundation. We also support local and national registered charities such as The Samaritans, Buttle UK and worthy causes such as a youth football team, helping to support a local nursery in building an all-weather outside space as well litter picking in local open spaces and the shoreline around Southampton.
We enjoy giving back to our Community and will support worthy causes raised by our members.
